muar trip 090806
had to go back to muar, my dad's hm town, for my grandma's 1st yr death anniversary prayers on national day... set off at 10plus in the morning with the uncles... slept my way thru like a log until our 1st pit stop at yong peng for fishball noodles n some kuay tasting biscuit...
reached muar itself ard 1 plus. wld be camping at an aunts hse so rested for a while b4 nagging my parents to go to the onli mall there. will mostly buy cute things n chinese novels n mags there coz they r really cheap but was really tame this time round partly wasnt much to buy n had really little time as usual.
dinner at the usual hawker centre but found that it had recently revamped. it was unusually clean now but think the food standard has dropped n less variety available. sort of miss the old feel which reminded me of the really old hawker centres in sg which i used to go with my family when we were really young. hawker centre with new roof, used to be open air
so much cleaner..
spent the rest of the evening folding joss papers n turned in pretty early coz there werent much to do there at nite. bought some dvds but there werent any dvd players in my relatives' hms ;p
was woken up ard 6plus by the crazy relatives n cousins who had nothing better to do. was dragged out of the hse to go buy joss papers, hv breakfast n a chicken for prayers ;p... along the way, stopped at the way to buy biscuits n goodies fr the famous biscuit shop there. we were the 1st customers there. the shop was supposed to be opened at 9 but it was ready for business at 8.10... as usual bought lotsa local pdts for friends, neighbours, colleagues etc...

early morning market scene
had to back at the hse by 9 for prayers but the priest apparently lost his way n in addition had left his hse late so ended up reaching onli at 10... sat ard while the relatives busied themselves with cooking... ceremony itself was much shorter than expected. less than an hr. ate the food prepared for lunch, didnt had much coz they didnt look appetizing. ended up ordering mac home delivery with the younger cousins, speaking of which took nearly 2 hrs to deliver the orders ;p
the spread
left the hse to pick up some more things b4 leaving to visit the other aunt's hse at 2... left for sg at ard 4 n reached sg ard 6plus, luckily no jams at the checkpts...
